In August, it was revealed that a bowling club in Burnley will have its roofing system replaced, along with additional restrooms.
As of August 11th 2025, works were meant to be discussed during a meeting held by local authorities on the 14th.
Stephen Wells, a member of Burnley Borough Council requested for authorisation for the works to go ahead.
Wells made the suggestion of swapping the V-roof with either a hip or gable roof, meaning that the new system will be much taller.
Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, the council stated the following: “Scott Park is located on the west side of Manchester Road south of the town centre.”
“The park is surrounded by residential properties.”
“The application is being presented to the committee as it has been submitted by the council.”
“The application seeks to replace the existing butterfly roof with a dual-pitched roof, with the maximum height increasing from 4.39m to 4.62m.”
“The existing locker room would be converted into additional toilet facilities with external doors added to provide access.
“The bowls pavilion butterfly roof is not a characteristic roof type for the area.”
“Other buildings within and adjacent to the park have dual-pitched roofs as is proposed.”
“As such, the proposed roof would be in keeping with the character of other buildings nearby.”
The Confederation of Roofing Contractors (CORC) have many trade members throughout the UK, especially those based in Lancashire.
Your roof is a huge part of your home and choosing a roofer can sometimes be a complicated business.
Receive quotes from at least 3 contractors. If possible, use a roofer from a reputable trade association who has been vetted and checked. Make sure you meet the roofer who will be doing the work.
Make sure that you receive all documentation such as quotes, contracts and the 14-day cooling off period in writing.
If you have 25% or more of your roof quoted for, you would need to contact building regulations.
