Russell Roof Tiles has confirmed it will support a new Dumfries-based charity through its Give4Good community fundraising initiative this year.
The Lochmaben manufacturer has added Buddiez, a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, as one of two new organisations that will receive support through the programme. The initiative was launched in 2022 and raises funds for community groups through staff-led fundraising activities involving employees, suppliers and partners.
Buddiez was nominated by company staff. The charity provides activities, training and support designed to create opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in a structured and supportive environment.
Jane Stitt, Project Manager at Buddiez, said: “Everyone at Buddiez is so very thankful for the kind nomination and any donations will be used to welcome more people into our services to ensure no one is left out.”
Fundraising across the construction supply chain
Russell Roof Tiles plans to raise £50,000 for selected charities during the current year through its Give4Good programme. Alongside Buddiez, the list of beneficiaries includes Veterans Garden Dumfries and Lockerbie Wildlife Trust.
Since the initiative launched, the manufacturer says it has raised more than £275,000 for charitable causes.
Fundraising events organised through the programme have included skydiving challenges, firewalking, paddleboarding, comedy and race nights, as well as a “Race Across Europe” challenge that required teams to travel across five countries in 80 hours without flying.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director of Russell Roof Tiles, said: “Community is at the heart of everything we do, which is why we’re proud to bring our Give4Good initiative back for the fifth time.
“Our firm is known for its inventive ways to fundraise, and we’re excited to share the plans we have in place to reach our ambitious target and support some incredible charities that work tirelessly to make a positive impact in our communities.”
Manufacturing operations and construction supply
Russell Roof Tiles manufactures concrete roof tiles and accessories used on residential, social housing and commercial construction projects across the UK. The company employs around 51 staff at its Halleaths site in Lochmaben and supplies roofing products to housebuilders and contractors.
The firm has also extended its community support to charities near its Burton-on-Trent site, including Miles for Smiles, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Cheshire Blood-Bikes, Burton YMCA and The Footprints Family.
In addition to its charity programme, the manufacturer recently launched a new roofing product following five years of development.
The Bute3 system is designed to combine the appearance of traditional plain tiles with an interlocking installation method intended to improve installation efficiency.
