With winter close approaching, vermin are likely to seek shelter by going inside of attics, which means that your attic could be disrupted. Such vermin include the likes of squirrels and rats.
The issue starts off as very minor, but can soon become very serious including the likes of gnawing on circuitry and making holes in components of the roofing system. A construction specialist argues that the UK must plan ahead, in the build up to bitter temperatures.
The owner of Best Roofers. Alex Morrisey stated such a time of the year is ‘Prime time,’ with regards to vermin, as “Animals are desperately seeking shelter.”
“A small mouse can squeeze through a gap the size of a pencil, while squirrels can gnaw through wood to create entry points.” “Once they’re in, the damage can escalate quickly.” “The problem has gotten out of hand.”
To prevent vermin from damaging your property, Alex suggests the following: “Use wire mesh, caulk, or expanding foam to seal gaps.” “For larger holes, you may need to replace damaged tiles or boards.” “Remember, mice can fit through gaps as small as a pencil width, so be thorough.” “Clean your gutters at least twice a year, particularly in autumn.” “This removes the temptation for pests and helps maintain the structural integrity of your roof.”
